Sirajuddin Qureshi elected as the President of IICC

Sirajuddin Qureshi was elected as the President of Indian Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC). The Indian Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC) held an election on 12 January 2014 for its managing body. The election intended to elect office bearers for the posts of President, Vice-President, Members of Board of Trustees and Executive Committee.
Other personalities that were elected are
• Delhi Minorities Commission chairman Safdar H. Khan has been elected as vice-president.
• Doordarshan News Director General S. M. Khan has been elected to the board of trustees for the managing body of IICC.
Priority of the newly elected body are resuming civil service coaching classes for Muslim youth, promoting vocational courses and to opening branches of IICC in six other States Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.

The IICC as a Society was registered in April 1981. The main purpose of IICC is to promote mutual understanding and amity amongst the people of this country and to depict the true face of Islam, which is most tolerant, liberal, progressive, rational and forward looking religion besides being based on cardinal principles of human values irrespective of faith, caste, creed and color.
The IICC also provides a forum where scholars from all fields of learning can interact with each other to promote brotherhood, friendship, peace and amity amongst the various cultural and religious groups in India and also to strive for a peaceful co-existence.
