🔅🔅 One Belt One Road Initiative 🔅🔅

One Belt One Road is considered as the most ambitious foreign policy and economic initiative of Chinese President Xi Jinping. It was announced in 2013 with an objective to rejuvenate the ancient trade routes connecting Asia and Europe and hence it is also known as Silk Road Economic Belt. OBOR is a network of roads, railways, oil pipelines, power grids, ports and other infrastructural projects meant to connect China to the world. This initiative comprises more than physical connections. It aims to create the world’s largest platform for economic cooperation including policy coordination, trade and financing collaboration and social and structural cooperation.

The OBOR is bifurcated into two parts- The Silk Road Economic Belt which is land-based and will connect China with Central Asia, Eastern and Western Europe and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road which is sea-based and will connect China to South-East Asia, Africa and Central Asia. The main objective of China through OBOR is to develop international clout by expanding its influence, boost its slow GDP by boosting trade through OBOR, fix the regional growth disparities between North and South China and boost Yuan’s usage amongst the countries and strengthen its role as an international currency. Although OBOR may prove beneficial to developing countries and could also boost their GDP, we should not be too optimistic about its success, as Chinese investments had let to political backlashes in the past. And it is unsure whether poor countries will be able to benefit from greater trade as they already run a huge trade deficit with China.

Foreign portfolio investment (FPI)

FPI consists of securities and other financial assets passively held by foreign investors. It does not provide investor with direct ownership of financial assets. It is relatively liquid depending on volatility of the market. In India, FPIs are allowed to invest in various debt market instruments such as government bonds, treasury bills, state development loans (SDLs) and corporate bonds, but with certain restrictions and limits. FPI is part of country’s capital account and shown on its balance of payments (BOP).

Differences between FPI and FDI

FPI lets investor purchase stocks, bonds or other financial assets in foreign country. In this case, investor does not actively manage investments or companies that issue investment. It also does not have control over securities or business. In contrast, FDI lets investor purchase direct business interest in foreign country. The investor also controls his monetary investments and actively manages company into which he puts money. FPI is more liquid and less risky than FDI.

How does HIV evade host immune system?
HIV consist of 2 Outer layers and 2 RNA bands With 2 Reverse Transcript molecules to write the code of the HIV virus as same as the host DNA.As soon as the virus enters the body it attacks the ribosomes and writes a PROTEIN covering around the virus which makes it look like a cell of the body and not a foreign body ...As soon as the immune system does not recognize it ..It starts to attack the T-cells of the body and as the level of T-cells starts to decrease and the immune system starts to get weaker day by day... As the HIV virus transcript itself and the RNA gets transcripted into the DNA just like that of the Host Body and it can take up to 14 years to detect it and the host will get too weak to be fatal even with a cold cough.
Helicopter parenting

It describes an overcontrolling behaviour of parents which can negatively affect children’s ability to manage their emotions and deal with the challenging demands of growing up.
A study published in the journal Developmental Psychology revealed
• Children with helicopter parents may be less able to deal with the challenging demands of growing up, especially with navigating the complex school environment
• Children who developed the ability to effectively calm themselves during distressing situations and to conduct themselves appropriately had an easier time adjusting to the increasingly difficult demands of preadolescent school environments
The researchers followed 422 children over the course of eight years and assessed them at ages two, five and 10.
Swajal Scheme

Swajal is community owned drinking water scheme or programme for sustained drinking water supply. Under it, 90% of project cost is taken care by the Government and remaining 10% is contributed by beneficiary community. The operations and management of the project is taken care by the local villagers. Under this scheme, government aims to provide villages with piped water supply powered by harnessing solar energy. Moreover, hundreds of rural technicians will be trained under this scheme for operation and maintenance of Swajal units.

Green GDP
Green GDP is a term used for expressing GDP after adjusting for environment degradations.
Green GDP is an attempt to measure the growth of an economy by subtracting the costs of environmental damages and ecological degradations from the GDP
The concept was first initiated through a System of National Accounts.
The System of National Accounts (SNA) is an accounting framework for measuring the economic activities of production, consumption and accumulation of wealth in an economy during a period of time.
When information on economy’s use of the natural environment is integrated into the system of national accounts, it becomes green national accounts or environmental accounting.
The process of environmental accounting involves three steps viz. Physical accounting; Monetary valuation; and integration with national Income/wealth Accounts:
Physical accounting determines the state of the resources, types, and extent (qualitative and quantitative) in spatial and temporal terms.
Monetary valuation is done to determine its tangible and intangible components.
Thereafter, the net change in natural resources in monetary terms is integrated into the Gross Domestic Product in order to reach the value of Green GDP.
