Zebu Cattle

Zebu Cattle (also known as indicine cattle or humped cattle), is a species or subspecies of domestic cattle originating in Indian subcontinent. They are characterised by fatty hump on their shoulders, a large dewlap, and sometimes drooping ears. They are well adapted to withstanding high temperatures, and are farmed throughout tropical countries. They are used as dairy cattle, draught oxen and beef cattle.

White Tigers

In India, white tigers are predominantly found in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. In 2016, world’s first White Tiger Safari was inaugurated at Mukundpur in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.
The first white tiger in Madhya Pradesh’s was spotted in Vindhya region in 1915. However, the rare breed of the big cat spotted for the first time died in 1920. In 1951, a white tiger cub named Mohan was captured by Rewa Maharaja Martand Singh. Later the tiger cub became the progenitor of all known white tigers in the world after the Maharaja arranged for its breeding.
White tigers in India are nothing but a pigmentation variant of the Bengal tiger. They have been reported in the wild from time to time in the Indian states of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar. These tigers have white fur because of the lack of the pigment pheomelanin, which is found in Bengal tigers with orange colour fur.

Antibiotic resistance making gonorrhea difficult to treat

According to a new warning from the World Health Organization (WHO), antibiotic resistance is making gonorrhea difficult to treat. . Therefore, developing a vaccine is urgently needed to stop global spread of super-gonorrhoea.

About Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea disease (also called the clap) is caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It spreads by unprotected sex. Its symptoms include a thick green or yellow discharge from sexual organs, pain when urinating and bleeding between periods in case of in women. In many cases, no symptoms are seen at all. Untreated gonorrhoeae infection can lead to infertility in both genders, pelvic inflammatory disease in women and can be passed on to a child during pregnancy. According to WHO, about 78 million people pick up the sexually transmitted infection each year due to Gonorrhoea.

South  Asia  Wildlife  Enforcement  Network  (SAWEN)  is  an  intergovernmental  wildlife  law  enforcement  support  body  of  South  Asian  countries  namely  -  Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India,  Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan  and Sri  Lanka.

SAWEN was officially  launched  in  January, 2011 in  Paro Bhutan.

  It  promotes  regional  cooperation  to  combat  wildlife  crime  in  South  Asia.  It  focuses  on  policy harmonization;  institutional  capacity  strengthening  through  knowledge  and  intelligence  sharing;  and collaboration  with  regional  and  international  partners  to  enhance  wildlife  law  enforcement  in  the  member countries. SAWEN  operates its activities  from  the Secretariat  based  in  Kathmandu, Nepal.

Representation  of  the  People  Act  of  1950  provides  for  the  qualifications  of  voters,  preparation  of electoral  rolls,  delimitation  of  constituencies,  allocation  of  seats  in  the  Parliament  and  state legislatures  and so  on.

 Representation  of  the  People  Act  of  1951  provides  for  the  actual  conduct  of  elections  and  deals  with administrative  machinery  for  conducting  elections,  the  poll,  election  offences,  election  disputes,  byelections,  registration of  political  parties  and  so on.

Tobin Tax:

A means  of  taxing  spot  currency  conversions  that  was  originally  suggested  by  American  economist  James Tobin  (1918-2002).  The  Tobin  tax  was  developed with the  intention  of  penalizing  short-term  currency speculation,  and  to  place  a  tax  on  all  spot  conversions  of  currency.  Rather  than a consumption  tax  paid by  consumers,  the  Tobin  tax  was  meant  to  apply  to  financial  sector  participants  as  a  means  of  controlling the stability  of  a given country's currency.

  A Pigovian  tax  is  a  tax  on  a  good  or  service  that  causes  a  harm  to  society  that  is  not  paid  by  the  users  of that  good or  service. It  is designed to  pay  for  the  negative externalities of  the good.

  A Sin tax is a  tax  levied  against  any  undesired  activity. This  includes taxes  on alcohol  and cigarettes.

  A ghetto  tax  is  a  term  used  to  describe  how  people  with  low  incomes  pay  higher  prices  for  goods  and services, particularly  those  living  in poverty-stricken areas.
